Yesterday, March 24, was held with great fanfare at the opening of a new museum Malaga. We are talking about the Museo Carmen Thyssen. After lengthy negotiations, Carmen Cervera, widow of Baron von Thyssen-Bornemisza, signed in September 2008 an agreement with Manchester City Council, under which the baroness was down 230 major works free nineteenth century from his private collection. In return, the City Council took over the restoration of the chosen building, the Palacio de Villalón, which would house up to 2025 the valuable paintings and sculptures. The agreement also provided for the establishment of a foundation responsible for managing the Pinacoteca, lifetime-chaired by the Baroness, whose vice president is the current mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre. After two and half years of work, the Palacio de Villalón, a sixteenth-century noble building, which was in an absolutely ruined and whose restoration has cost 17 million Euros, shining with its own light last night to welcome a select group of guests. Besides Carmen Cervera, the mayor, and many authorities Malaga, attended this first show in Malaga beloved personalities, including actor Antonio Banderas, the singer Estrella Morente and her husband, bullfighter Javier Conde.
